The Olga Iglesias Project Announces Historic Collaboration with the Met Opera of NY

San Juan, Puerto Rico – The Olga Iglesias Project (OIP) is thrilled to announce a monumental collaboration with the world-renowned Metropolitan Opera of New York. This historic partnership aims to significantly enhance musical appreciation among students in Puerto Rico.

As part of this partnership, OIP will receive up to free tickets annually to distribute to students and teachers for Met Opera’s HD Live in Theaters program, providing direct access to world-class opera performances. Additionally, educational materials will include free access to the Met Opera on Demand archive, which will be incorporated into OIP’s educational recitals, allowing students and educators to explore an extensive catalog of performances for educational purposes.

“This collaboration marks a defining moment for our organization and the students we serve,” said Anthony Cheney Guzmán, Executive Director of the Olga Iglesias Project. “The opportunity to connect young people in Puerto Rico with world-class opera through live performances and educational resources is truly invaluable. We are deeply grateful to the Metropolitan Opera for their commitment to arts education and for helping us create meaningful experiences that inspire the next generation of artists and audiences.”

Witness this milestone in a special report on WIPR-TV as we debut our latest educational recital in Caguas, PR, featuring these materials from the Met Opera.

Through initiatives like these, we strive to immerse students in the rich world of opera, bridging global artistry with Puerto Rico’s cultural heritage.
